NITJ ALUMNI AWARDS

Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA):
The Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA) will be announced on the Institute’s Convocation Day. NIT Jalandhar shall recognize the professional achievements and contribution of its alumni through the Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA) (around 1- 2 Awards) each year. The award consists of a memento, and a letter of appreciation, followed by a brief address by the awardee.

Eligibility for DAA:
Any person who has received a degree from NIT Jalandhar, is eligible to be considered for Distinguished Alumnus Award, except in the following cases:

• An alumnus/alumna, who is an employee of NIT Jalandhar, shall not be eligible for the award during his/her service period except when he/she has accomplished truly outstanding achievement of highest order recognized widely.
• An alumnus/alumna who has already received Distinguished Alumni Award may not be considered again for the award.

Criteria for nominees:
An individual, to be nominated for this Distinguished Alumni Award, should have made a significant professional contribution which is recognized widely. The following, among possible other criteria, shall be considered while assessing the nominations:

• Positions held
• Contributions to his/her profession
• Awards and Honours Received
• Association with the Institute
• Contribution to the growth and development of the country
• Other contributions

Criteria for filling nominations:

Nominations in prescribed format may be submitted by:


• Present and former Senate Members
• Present and Former Officer Bearers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer) of the NITJ Alumni Association of NITJ
• Any previous awardee of DAA

How to Nominate:

Nominations must be submitted through email to the undersigned, latest by 1st of August every year.

Process for Selection:

Nominations shall be shortlisted by a Screening Committee chaired by the Faculty-In-Charge (NITJAA) to be constituted with the approval of the Director.The recommendations of the Screening Committee shall be forwarded to the Institute Standing Committee (comprising of the Director as the Chairman, Deans, and 2 External Experts nominated by the Director).
The Standing Committee will make final recommendations to the Senate and the Board of Governors for approval.

Distinguished Donor Awards (DDA) :
In order to recognize the generous contributions by NITJ alumni, under the various heads as discussed in section 2(b), the NITJAA will announce the Distinguished Donor Awards (DDA) on the Institute Convocation Day. Based on the donation amounts, the following categories are proposed under the DDA awards, along with additional incentives for the donors.
